My fear is not that I am inadequate, but powerful beyond measure.
The above paraphrase is of author Marianne Williamson’s great quote, which continues to inspire me.
Too often I’m afraid of my own potential.
I’m afraid to let my light shine, out of fear of attention and the inability to reproduce success.
But as my wise professor Wendell Bass explained, “you can’t focus on the result, because then your motivation and drive are determined by it.”When motivation and determination are fueled by my end result, an undesired result will hinder my perseverance. Therefore, I choose to bring my focus to the process. If I focus on the process, the results will take care of themselves.
You can’t focus on the result, because then your motivation and drive are determined by it.
As for fear of attention, it is important I remember God will not call me to do something without equipping me to do it (Matthew 7:7-11). Whatever he calls me to do, he will give me what I need to do it. He will fortify my strengths and use my weaknesses as strengths to accomplish his will.
Focus on the process and let the results take care of themselves.
I will have trust in God’s plan because he will never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV) .
I will not worry about knowing his plan for me, just be obedient to his word and he will see me through (Jeremiah 29:11).
